Meet “Dr. Koul!”

Dr. Annette St.Pierre-MacKoul

Dr. Annette, better known as "Dr. Koul" was born on April 13th in Rockville Centre, New York. She grew up on Long Island and attended Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. She then attended Tufts University Medical School, where she met and married Dr. David MacKoul. Shortly thereafter had their first child, Virginia.

Dr. Annette did her training and residency at the New England Medical Center’s Boston Floating Hospital. On match day, the day when doctors learn about their residencies, Drs. David and Annette, along with their daughter, made the front page of the Boston Herald. This marked the start of a career in the public eye. During residency, Dr. Annette had their second child, Christopher.

After residency, she joined her husband in private practice in Leominster, Massachusetts, for four years and would give birth to their third child, Andrew. During this time, Dr. Annette wrote a weekly newspaper column for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. Finally, she convinced her husband to move to Florida.

Since moving to Southwest Florida, Dr. Annette has been very active with PACE, Girls Going Places, YMCA, ABC-7, WINK-TV, medical breakthroughs with the local hospitals, and the Florida Parenting News with her “Ask Dr. Koul” column. She was also a Hope Hospice Volunteer with her daughter. Dr. Annette is also a Certified Parent Educator in Redirecting Children’s Behavior. She has always been a child advocate and does any and everything to help the children of our community.  Most recently, Dr. Annette was the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Lee County Medical Society.  She is also very active with the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, serving on their National Board of Directors.

Although no longer a married couple, the MacKoul’s continue to be ‘THE’ pediatricians in the Southwest Florida Community. Dr. Annette now owns and practices at MacKoul Pediatrics Fort Myers.
